Also known as Fisherman's Pot, this is a local dish from the Shimoda Susaki area of Izu where the contents change depending on the location and the quality of the catch. This name is also used as a general term for fishermen's hotpot in general. ``Ikenda'' is a local place name, and is a corruption of the place name ``Ike no Dan'' in Tsumekizaki, located at the tip of the Susaki Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Today, it is a specialty dish that can be eaten at inns, shops, and even homes in the Susaki area.
The soup stock is made with ingredients from the ocean, such as barnacles and turtle notes, and the toppings are rich with seafood such as spiny lobster, turban shell, vegetarian crab, and rockfish. The flavor of the soup stock made from luxurious ingredients, the aroma of the ocean, and the depth of the miso are exquisite.
