Wasabi Utilization Seminar Held

In order to expand the use of wasabi in ordinary households, Shizuoka Prefecture held a "Wasabi Utilization Seminar" at "Kitara," an agricultural product processing and sales facility in Izu City in March 2024, and had Ogawa Masamichi, a "Food Capital of Fujinokuni Builder," suggest home-cooked meals using wasabi.

Fifteen people, including producers and tour guides from Izu City, participated in the course.

The craftsmen introduced four types of home-cooked meals that use up an entire stick of wasabi, including pasta with wasabi and tomato marinade. Participants were impressed by these unprecedented ways to use wasabi, and commented that they would definitely like to make the suggested dishes at home.

 

Adding wasabi to marinade reduces the spiciness and makes the dish easier to eat.

In Izu City, the Izu Wasabi Visitor Center, a facility to disseminate information about wasabi, opened in April 2024. Shizuoka Prefecture will continue to use this facility to promote the expansion of wasabi use.
